Miss Chunky

When Elizabeth was born, she wasn't very chubby. At all. 6 lbs 6 oz. I called her Miss Pretty.

Three months later, this girl has developed more rolls than a Kneader's bakery!

Which is why I am officially changing her name to Miss Chunky.

Don't worry. She has good self esteem.

I Love You, Jessica Kettle

Holy cow. Just did some mentoring with one of my FAVORITE photographers, Jessica Kettle. I am so glad, too. I've seriously been the biggest slacker when it comes to doing anything with photography for the past few months. It's ok though, I gave birth. That's my excuse.

Anyway, thank you Jess for showing me so much about light, composition, Photoshop tricks (like fill layers!), business stuff, and basically everything I've been freaking out about.

And thanks Adri for being the best model ever!

Miss Elizabeth Grace

She's here!!! Finally! That seriously was the longest 38 weeks and 6 days of my life!!!

Oh but isn't this little face worth it?

Four Generations

A week ago, my little girl was born. Miss Elizabeth Grace.

Last night, my grandmother was over, so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and create something that will be treasured for a long time to come.

Photo of the Week

This morning I woke up fairly early for a Sunday. Since I couldn't get back to sleep, I headed downstairs for some breakfast of razzleberry pie and pulled out the latest issue of National Geographic.

Let me tell you what: nothing will give you a zest for life like reading National Geographic. It tempts you to quit everything you're doing in your life and travel the world to experience all its wonders.

One day I may just do exactly that.

As I flipped through the pages, engrossed by photographs that had me drooling, I came up with a great idea:

I will now be featuring
'Photograph of the Week'

Any of you are strongly encouraged to send in any photos you deem worthy. Photos will be posted each Sunday.

At the end of each month, I'll be giving away a prize to the most popular photograph.

You can start submitting NOW!
The first reader-submitted photo will be posted October 3!

SEND ENTRIES TO: mallorykerwin@gmail.com

Good luck!

Jane Goodall & Chimp

This photo comes from National Geographic's article "Being Jane Goodall".

It was taken in the wild. No zoo. No reservation. Just one purely wild chimpanzee. Researcher Jane Goodall coaxed the chimp to her with a steady supply of bananas. Eventually, the animal lost its fear of humans and after some time, even allowed her to start grooming him.

The thing that really does it for me is how the picture presents the rare and delicate trust shared between two unlikely friends.

Need a Workshop?

So, you want to up the ante on your photography skills?
Maybe see it as a potential career?
Or maybe you have no photography skills, and would like to change that?

Whatever the case, I have to HIGHLY recommend my friends over at:
I just took their GoPro workshop and let me tell you. SUCH an amazing experience!! I got SO much personal help and lots of valuable info to take home to apply.
And the great thing about them is...they travel! So, you can most likely find a workshop near you, and if not....well you might as well just spend the money for a plane ticket anyway because they are that good.

Plus, Wendy and Tyler are just about the coolest people you'll meet.
Thanks guys!

P.S. If you're a Nie Nie fan, you'll want to know it was Blue Lily that did those beautiful
family portraits.
